Movin' Right Along (digga doom digga doom)

Just a couple of itty bitty news items for those who haven't heard yet. There's some mobility among the hosts and trivia clubs lately that might interest you if you're a fan of either or both of these ladies.

First off, Sharon Scofield is branching out of her Diner now to host for EyeQ at the Dee-Lights shop on Friday mornings at 7am. Her first game there was this morning, and I'm happy to say that she is as engaging and fun a host as she is on her home turf. I have not had the chance to check out the shops there yet, but they're being very generous to sponsor the event, and so we should make the effort to support the supporters of great trivia (even me, slacker that I am).

Secondly and with a bit more pique, Honey Potez has announced her resignation from her two-year term of employment at Club Shiraz. This should delight all those in the trivia community who enjoy her trivia but do not enjoy being smarmed on by creepy owners who do not know how to spell the word "you," since Cully Andel and Hummingbird Forster scooped her up before she even finished stepping off the porch. Honey's last night at Shiraz is November 19, and she'll be going out with a bang: her theme that night is the letter "P," and she will be dancing on her "p"ole. She begins hosting at Double Standards on November 24.

Honey's move is bittersweet in many ways. Club Shiraz will not only be losing a great team member with her transition but in many ways their goalkeeper. Many of the changes that have been for the good of both the staff and the club have been Honey's doing, from allowing hosts to work elsewhere simultaneously (as long as their shifts don't conflict with the club's) to gaining influence in staffing decisions. It will be interesting to see what becomes of the club without her there to provide some connection between the rest of management and the rest of the trivia community. Left to the whims of the ownership, the club will not be a highly esteemed trivia venue. Someone needs to make the necessary saves to keep the team in the game. Honey has played that position for almost two years. Only time will tell if anyone else at the Club will be able to fill her shoes.

Meanwhile, Double Standards and the many, many people who avoid Shiraz are getting their Christmas / Hanukkah / Kwanzaa / Solstice / Festivus present early. If I had a linden for every time I've heard someone append their criticisms of Shiraz with, "Except for Honey... Honey's great!", I would be able to fund Buccaneer Bowl on that alone. Please make sure you come to Double Standards on November 24 to welcome Honey to her new home! I'm fairly certain Humm will only send you sleazy messages if she's dared to do so at Chaos.

Club Shiraz: Honey will be hosting from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday, November 15, and Thursday, November 19

Double Standards: Honey will begin hosting from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Tuesday, November 24

EyeQ @ Dee-Lights: Sharon will be hosting from 7:00am to 9:00am on Friday mornings

Sharon's Diner: Sharon continues hosting at her home venue. Events are held most weekdays from 9:00am to 11:00am; Sharon's trivia is usually on Tuesdays.
